A New Job……

After months of sending job applications and interviews, one company finally accepted me. Will start work tomorrow.

And with this job starting, it also means that I can only go to the shores on weekends or any trips near my home that end before 7am. Just hope that I would not be like a zombie at work.

Sigh...no choice...has to get the vitamin M. If not, cannot go for my diving trip again before the season close in Malaysia. Finally received my ‘C’ card from PADI. Yeah!!! :o)

Sense & Sensibility.....

It happened on one of the field trip one day. As I was walking away from the sea grass area towards the jetty, I noticed that there was something hanging from the jetty.

It turned out to be pot where people use it to catch crabs. Now, first thing that came to my mind was “What’s a pot doing here at a Reserve? Don’t they know NO poaching here?” So I acted before I could think of the proper procedures that I should take, I cut off the sting that attached to it, disassembled and throw it away.

After that, as I was making my way back, a crewmember told me that the person that laid the pot may have seen me doing the disassemling. I was also told that I was technically wrong to do it and what I should have done is to report it to the Nparks officers and let them take the actions.

Felt a bit upset. As what I was doing, is merely what my heart told me. That if the pot was to be left alone, crabs will be trapped and killed. Furthermore, I did not see anyone above the jetty and I did not even see anyone putting the line. So I thought it was just a piece of rubbish left by some poachers.

Anyway, I stands by my actions. If you think it is wrong, STOP me at that point of time and not after. I was acting what my heart told me since my brain was not working at that point of time after days of lacking sleeps.

Brief Summary II…….

I’m back!

I know that I have not been posting for sometimes. Well…you see, I have been busy visiting Singapore shores, taking my Padi Open Water course and looking for my next pay job. So here’s a brief summary again :p

A ) Like I said, I’ve been visiting some of our shores. This season has been a wonderful trip so far (except for the nasty sand-flies bites). Lots of nudibranch, sea slug, seahorse etc. (For more details, see Wildfilms Blog.

B ) I am a certified Open Water diver!!! Yah! Went to Dayang, Malaysia to take my course instead of Pulau Hantu originally planned as my friend had to delay her course due to health problem. So, I went alone.

First lesson was a bit nervous for me, as that was the first time I swim in an open sea. The seawater tasted terrible but somehow tried to tell myself to calm down. After everybody was in the sea, the instructor led us to the bottom from an anchored line/buoy. Once there, we have to demonstrate all the skills that we have learned during the confined pool sessions. I had difficulty in CESA and thus went back again to complete the course.

The wonderful sight beneath the surface was beholding. I saw all kind of fishes and other marine animals (Although some I have already seen during my low-tide walks). Just can’t wait to go for diving again. But first thing first have to find a job to pay for my next diving trip.

C ) Have been sending resume these two weeks and waiting. So far, only two responded. Went for the interviews. The first one is a club located in Thomson. Was offered the job but I rejected it cos need to work long hours and during weekends. The second one is in Changi and now waiting for their reply. Hope to get it, as it is something different from what I have been doing.

That’s about it! Going to Pulau Semakau tomorrow for its Opening Ceremony to public. Will be high tide though….so guess we will not be doing any shooting on marine stuffs.

On Sunday, will be trekking at Pasir Panjang with some friends. And next week…heading for the shores again.

See ya!!! :o)
